Lasting personal development is difficult even under perfect circumstances. When managing a restricted diet and trying to minimize or eliminate hampering symptoms, wellness building presents additional challenges. I created this resource to help bridge the divide between managing health and managing one's personal development. The two are fundamentally interconnected. Everyone will face health issues at some point during their lives. I want to help you stop just trying to recover from the acute illness, to stop merely managing chronic conditions. I will provide strategies I have developed to build a strong wellness foundation and facilitate lasting personal growth. I have designed most of the personal development sections to stand on their own. Many will be benefical to nearly everyone.

Build well,

How to Regain Momentum in Pursuing Your Goals

I have written in the past about goal sabotage about lack of focus, negative habits and procrastination. Hint: search sabotage and you will find several. I want to add another warning sign to watch out for today.

Focusing on something else is just as bad as not doing anything. It is just as bad as your negative habits. In some ways, it is even more sneaky and sinister, because the new activity may have plenty of value on its own merit.

One of the easiest way to become sidetracked and kill a goal, is to “put it on the backburner” in the wake of a new project or activity. New activities and new goals will always feel more exciting than the old worn ones we have been grinding away at for months. Remember that all the new goals will become old, unless they are short term goals. The old goals will not become exciting again. All that will happen is you will destroy all of your momentum and dismantle the vital habits associated with progressing towards achieving the goal.

The only way to succeed and accomplish any significant long term goals, no matter how motivated and talented you are, is to recognize that the new goal shine will fade and you will be left with real work. Make no mistake, you will have to make the choice to grind past this sticking point in spite of seemingly more tantalizing pursuits. You must not let your purpose shift, or all you will ever succeed at is being a good beginner. If you need to, put the new wellness ideas on the backburner and instead focus on perseverance. You will find much greater rewards. Then you will glow with the successful goal shine.

Build well,

CRC
